Indonesien ist ein weitläufiges Land über- und unterwasser. Dazu gehören tausende von Inseln südlich des Äquator, die meisten davon unbewohnt und somit kaum erforscht. Die Inseln liegen teilweise so dicht aneinander, das es auch das Land der tausend Flüsse genannt wird. Tauchen in Indonesien heißt Tauchen an spektakulären Tauchplätzen.
The island of Flores is located on the eastern edge of the Komodo National Park.
The coasts of Flores are mostly unexplored and practically all the diving is done on the north coast because the south coast is very rough. The island is well worth a visit for its nice landscape and the high volcanoes. There is the famous volcano, Keli Mutu in central Flores, which has three colored lakes near the summit.
One of the main diving areas is Labuan Bajo, it is about an hour's flight away from Bali (several flights a day). The Komodo dragons on Rinca Island are from here, just a stone's throw away. Tourists know Labuan Bajo until now only as an backpackers destination.
But now with the Bintang Flores Hotel the first "star" hotel was opened on Flores. It is just a short transfer about 10 minutes from the airport, beautifully situated at the end of a bay.
